Description: Framed caricature of "Raymond Mays" by Sallon of the "Daily Mirror" The text in the picture reads as follows:- RAYMOND MAYS, father of the E.R.A. and the B.R.M., will be remembered mainly as a hill climb exponent and his successes at Shelsley Walsh are legion (he first held the record for the hill as far back as 1923). At one time holder of the Mountain Course and the Campbell circuit at Brooklands as well as Crystal Palace, Mays recorded many great wins for E.R.A. This picture is from a set of cartoons commissioned by Shell-Mex and BP Ltd. to mark the 60th anniversary of the British Motor Industry in October 1956.
