Description: Framed caricature of "Sammy Davis" by Sallon of the "Daily Mirror" The text in the picture reads as follows:- S.C.H. DAVIS, author of many books, "Casque" of the "Autocar" and "Sammy" to everyone in motor racing, is one of motor racing's great personalities. Perhaps "Sammy's" favourite of his many victories was with Dr. Benjafield when "Old No. 7" Bentley won the 1927 Le Mans Race. Two Gold Stars were awarded him in 1929 and 1930 in which year he and the Earl of March won the B.R.D.C. 500-Mile Race. This picture is from a set of cartoons commissioned by Shell-Mex and BP Ltd. to mark the 60th anniversary of the British Motor Industry in October 1956. It featured racing drivers both from the past and present at that time. See my other auctions for some of the other pictures. Historical picture framed in a 25 x 20 cm. (10 x 8 inch) size clipframe. Naturally the picture you are bidding on does NOT have the "SAMPLE" watermark!! Powered by WonderLister Desktop App
