Description: Framed caricature of "Stirling Moss" by Sallon of the "Daily Mirror" The text in the picture reads as follows:- First Briton to win a British G.P., and the Mille Miglia and winner of the Targa Florio and three T.T's, the name STIRLING MOSS is synonymous with motor racing. The greatest driver this country has yet seen, Stirling pursues his inevitable winning way towards his 6th B.R.D.C. Gold Star with fifteen wins in the 28 races in which he has started and six 2nds and a 3rd - but the season, as we write, is not yet ended. This picture is from a set of cartoons commissioned by Shell-Mex and BP Ltd. to mark the 60th anniversary of the British Motor Industry in October 1956. It featured racing drivers both from the past and present at that time. See my other auctions for some of the other pictures. Historical picture framed in a 25 x 20 cm. (10 x 8 inch) size clipframe.
