Description: **VERY RARE** Sam the Olympic Eagle was the mascot of the 1984 Summer Olympics which were held in Los Angeles. He is a bald eagle patterned after Uncle Sam, designed by legendary Walt Disney artist, Bob Moore (1920 - 2001). Offered is an ORIGINAL DRAWING of Sam by Bob Moore. The size of the original drawing is 16" x 13", with the 4" x 6" full-figurer character featuring a Shooting Sport pose is rendered in marker on board and dedicated by Bob Moore in the lower left. This one-of-a-kind drawing also includes a hand written inscription by Bob Moore and is dated 1/21/84, seven months before the Opening Ceremonies. This is a remarkable piece of Olympic mascot history by one of Disney's legendary artists. Among the highlights of Bob Moore’s prolific career was designing the commemorative Walt Disney United States postage stamp in 1968, as well as the official mascot for the 1984 Summer Olympics. It should be noted that Bob Moore was one of the few artists at Disney authorized to sign Mr. Walt Disney's autograph, signing thousands of photographs with Walt’s famous signature.
