Usually , an EEPROM failure refers to the corruption of the data stored in the EEPROM, which corruption can result in all kinds of different failure symptoms. And that is lucky because where an EEPROM corruption is very difficult to identify with simple means, this particular EEPROM common failure can be tested with a simple compressed air can! Hold an air can upside down and spray cold substance on the IC for 2-3 seconds. Do not worry it will get covered with icicles, that won't hurt it. Now power on the TV and if it goes beyond the usual 1-2 seconds screen then you've got a bad IC that needs replacement! If you do not then your IC may still be bad, of course, but chances are lower for that and higher that the problem is somewhere else. As we explained there is NO simple and efficient way to verify if the information stored in an EEPROM isn't corrupt. If the freezing test does not pass on your TV then we recommend sending us the whole board for test and repair; replacing IC1302 on your own you risk to end up where you started and unless you use a socket you would have modified the EEPROM and we would not be taking it back.
