Description: Here we have an original very-vintage etching pencil-titled lower left "Oak" and pencil-signed lower right by listed female artist, Ruth C. Melnicoe (1897-1959 American.) Melnicoe was born in Chicago, Illinois, but most of her work is associated with the West Coast, especially the Bay Area, and in particular, with San Francisco. Unframed. Undated, which is very unusual for Melnicoe. This piece is part of an archive we purchased of Melnicoe's works, most of which are dated and, of all of those that are dated, range in date from 1939-1944. This piece would be of the same period as those. Image alone, not including pencil-signed and other margins, is roughly 5 7/8" x 8 7/8". This is the largest of her works in our possession. Condition: Our photographs reveal the condition best -- please enlarge and zoom in on them, and examine them carefully. You'll never find anything sticky, growing or otherwise gross on our ephemera, nor will you ever encounter anything with funky odors. This piece is remarkably fresh and clean, despite its age, with excellent contrast. Two pin holes observed from the back only that cannot be seen from the front (see photo with blue circle highlighting them.) Lies nice and flat. Light surface, edge, and corner wear to the surrounding paper, which may include -- and if included, is shown in the photos -- matting tape remnants, mat burn, toning and/or foxing. Rest assured that we will do all we can to ensure that your unframed artwork arrives exactly as presented in our photos. We invest time and appropriate materials into shipping all of our ephemera, and we provide tracking on all shipments. All pieces are sent in rigid mailers or envelopes that are sandwiched between cardboard before being sent as first-class parcels in non-bendable mailers, which ship at rates much higher than first-class letters. We never toss our ephemera into thin stationery envelopes with forever stamps stuck to them expecting the USPS to deliver them to you with great care. And we ship everything fully insured. We consider funky odors (cigarette smoke, mildew, etc) to be an important part of a condition report.
