Sandra Ceballos studied painting, sculpture, and printmaking at the San Alejandro School of Fine Arts, where she graduated in 1983. Sandra stands out among the most important artists of the 80s generation. She was a co-founder, along with Ezequiel Suárez, of Espacio Aglutinador, created in her own home-studio, and was the first independent and alternative artistic space in Cuba after the revolutionary triumph. From there, she has provided visibility for those artists and projects not validated by the Institutionality. Her work falls within conceptual art with a marked interest in social and political issues. Among her most important awards are the following: in 1995, the First Annual National Prize for Contemporary Painting Juan Francisco Elso, National Museum of Cuba; in 1997, Residence and Exhibition Program, Art in General and Longwood Art Project, Bronx Arts Council, NY, USA; and in 1998, artist in residence, Institute of Design and Audiovisual Media, Basil, Switzerland.SANDRA CEBALLOS OBAYA . Fue cofundadora, junto a Ezequiel Suárez, de Espacio Aglutinador, creado en su propia casa-estudio y fue el primer espacio artístico independiente y alternativo en Cuba, después del triunfo revolucionario. Desde allí ha ofrecido visibilidad para aquellos artistas y proyectos no válidos a la Institucionalidad. Su obra se inserta dentro del arte conceptual con un marcado interés en temas de índole social y político.Entre sus premios más importantes cabe destacar en 1995, el Primer Premio Nacional Anual de Pintura Contemporánea Juan Francisco Elso, Museo Nacional de Cuba; en 1997, Residencia y Programa de exhibición, Art in General and Longwwood Art Project, Consejo de las Artes del Bronx, NY, EE.UU. y en 1998, artista en residencia, Instituto de Diseño y Medios Audiovisuales, Basil, Suiza.
