Description: FORTY YEAR PIPE COLLECTION - I am listing the pipes in my collection as I retire. They are restored - ready for a new owner. Sasieni Four Dot Rustic Perth Estate Briar Along with names like Barling, Charatan, and Dunhill Sasieni holds a special place in the history of English smoking pipes. So the story goes, Sasieni himself worked for Dunhill during its early days. But eventually he left Dunhill, having his own ideas about how pipes should be made, and founded Sasieni. This was 1919, and Sasieni has been the closest thing to a household name in English pipes ever since. This is not a Sasieni shape I’ve had a chance to see up close before, Four Dot Sasieni pipe shapes were named after English towns and cities. This one is a little rare as it was named for the city of Perth in Scotland. Anyway, it’s a really neat shape, being a billiard with a diamond shank. Sasieni “Rustic” rustication followed the wgrain lines, sort of like modern sandblasts, which did make me wonder whether this was a straight grain block that got the Four Dot Rustic treatment. As for dating, this pipe will be from the make’s post-war family era, when the Sasieni family still owned the make. That puts it somewhere between 1946-1979. The condition is excellent. Some rim darkening. Details: Length: 5.8″ / 147.3mm Bowl Width: 0.78 / 19.81mm Bowl Depth: 1.68″ / 42.67mm Weight: 1.2oz / 36g Shipping: Priority Mail USPS
