THIS IS A RARE PIECE OF BALTIMORE & OHIO RAILROAD CHINA BY SCAMMELL'S LAMBERTON, 1827 - 1927.THE CHINA PIECE OFFERED HERE IS: ONE SMALL DESERT / SALAD BOWLMEASUREMENTS:5 1/8" WIDE FROM OUTSIDE RIM TO OUTSIDE RIM1" DEEP FROM OUTSIDE BOTTOM TO THE TOP OF THE RIM ILLUSTRATED ON FRONT IS THE CARROLLTON VIADUCT, 1829.THE COLORS ARE WHITE / OFF WHITE & COBALT BLUE, RESEMBLING THE FLOW BLUE PATTERN. MANUFACTURER'S MARK / BACKSTAMP: SCAMMELL'S / DESIGNED PATENTED BACKSTAMP ON THIS PIECE IS THE VERY FAMILIAR CAPITOL LOGO WITH THE WORDS "DESIGN PATENTED" APPEARING AT THE BOTTOM OF THE STAMP.THE BACKSTAMP CHRONOLOGICALLY: THIS BACKSTAMP APPEARED FROM THE VERY LATE 1920's UNTIL 1954 WHEN THE SCAMMELL'S SOLD OUT TO STERLING CHINA AND THE LAMBERTON PLANT WAS CLOSED. THIS HAS A NICE GLAZED FINISH WITH NO CRACKS NOR CHIPS OBSERVED. SOME OBSERVED CRAZING ON THE BACK SIDE IN THE CENTER ONLY. THERE ARE SOME UTENSIL MARKS FROM NORMAL USAGE.PLEASE SEE PHOTOS TO DETERMINE CONDITION.
