Description: Please take the time to review all my other listings after you have looked at this one! I will be listing a broad and diverse range of Vintage Communications and Technology items, related Books, Periodicals and Ephemera...something for everyone! Milhart Klicpera of Racine, Wisconsin was an early amateur radio enthusiast and licensed as 9CM. He started the Klitzen Wireless Apparatus Company and first advertised in the February 1916 QST promoting the "Klitzen Rotary". He continued in business through about 1926. Along the way, he entered into a relationship with Montgomery Wards and provided various items for Ward's wireless offerings... Here is a Klitzen Improved Model Rotary Spark Gap supplied to Montgomery Ward 1919-20. It is constructed with flat copper electrodes that are mounted on Formica and then to the wooden base. Similarly, the rotary electrodes are made of copper and mounted to a Formica wheel. Motor AC input shows continuity. Simply designed, the device has aged in a warm fashion and is as originally found. There have been no attempts to clean it up as you can almost "smell the ozone" just the way it is! There are the normal signs of wear for such an item but they do not detract in any way from its presence! The catalog photo is from the 1920 Montgomery Ward catalog. By 1921, the design changed slightly, using a cast wheel on bakelite and remained that way until the end of spark... As you can see from the photographs, this is a wonderful example of wireless history that will perfectly display on any collection shelf! The unit is 10" long, 6.5" deep and stands about 6.5" tall. Shipping weight will be about 11 pounds. If you are looking for that great addition to your wireless collection, this Klitzen Rotary Spark Gap might be for you! I will pack this item properly and with great care. I have been shipping these kinds of vintage materials worldwide since the 1980's. Buyer is responsible for shipping and insurance. I usually ship within one business day after receipt of confirmed payment... THANK YOU FOR LOOKING!
