There are a lot of excellent card magic collections for beginners, but Scarne's is by far the most comprehensive and the best. It includes 155 tricks from many of the 20th century's best close-up magicians. By modern publishing standards, the format and page layout are fairly "dense", so you have to concentrate fully while reading, but the extra effort is worth it. Tons of excellent self-working card magic.You can find many editions of this book (some hardcover, some paperback) in a wide range of prices. But if you are interested in collecting early editions of important magic texts, here is a 1st edition of one of modern card magic's most important books.This is a good "reading-copy" of the book, as it does have some condition issues. PLEASE READ CONDITION NOTES BELOW, AND LOOK AT PHOTOS. Look at the sample page shot to get idea of format, and table of contents to see all the stuff you'll learn. Cover has edge and corner wear, with gouge in center top of front cover; back cover shows some water stains. Inside book, pages are browning, but clean and unmarked, no tears. Front pages of book have bookworm damage, with hole chewed through the front endpaper page and title pages (see photos).
