I just obtained a gigantic personal collection of Magic DVDs from a magician who has accumulated them over 2+ decades. And I already had bought a big wholesale close-out of DVDs from my supplier. So, I am up to my knees in DVDs! Literally! I need to find good homes for all the DVD's in this collection, so I will be listing them with little or no description. But check out the photos of the DVD case blurbs, and do a little research online for price and content, and you can get some great deals on these DVDs. I have quickly checked that they load and play, but can't take the time to watch them all and give my opinion/review. (If I am familiar with the content or artist, I will say what I can.)Please see postage hints at the end of the listing. SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS by RODNEY REYES I will start with my favorite item on this DVD -- it is a neat coin effect, which is hard to describe, but I'll try. The magician holds a coin by the edges over a spectators palm up hand. The spectator closes her finger and thumb over the coin, trapping it inside the loop of her touching finger and thumb. You cover the trapped coin with a handkerchief for a moment, and when you remove the hank, the coin appears to have penetrated through the spectator's fingers! You now hold it ABOVE her (still) touching fingers, no longer trapped inside them. It is sort of the like the famous "Crazy Man's handcuffs" but with a coin instead of a rubber band, and with the spectator's hand being involved! The other routines on the DVD are card magic -- mostly variants on effects you may already know -- Triumph, two card transpo, The Bullet card effect, Ambitious card, 4-Ace production, etc, etc. Plus some flourish-y cuts and moves.Most of the performance segments are filmed on the street for passersby, so sometimes hard to get a great sense of the effects. And some of the performance items are NOT explained. But you do get explanations for about 15 items.I'm an old guy, and so probably just me, but I found Reyes "youthful confidence" a bit hard to take. There are some "theory" segments, where he shares "wisdom" on presentation and performance -- most of it is fairly obvious and pedestrian advice. Similarly in his explanations, he seems to think that his card magic is more groundbreaking than it actually is. That said, there are good solid routines on this DVD -- just don't let Reyes attitude turn you off :-)This DVD did not have an obvious copyright/publishing date, so not sure when it came out, but I am guessing it is from about 15 years ago. Reyes was quite young then, so I guess I should cut him a bit of slack for being annoying on this DVD :-)Hard to find this DVD now, and I only found it with one other seller for $42. (It is not worth that much! No way!) It originally sold for $30, I think, (which is still high in my opinion) SO, how about less than that? Yeah, that would be better. How about A LOT less than that? Yeah, much better!CONDITION: This DVD is new, but I carefully opened it only to review it. DVD and case/label are new Shipping costs hints:USA ADDRESSES First DVD (singles) has postage of $4.15. But if you buy more that one, postage drops significantly on combined shipments. eBay checkout should calculate about $1.30 for each additional single DVD.
