Description: This is a clean New Old Stock replacement Huret 120mm drive hub arm set (with a spare snap ring) for Huret-manufactured speedometer drive hubs, Schwinn part number 08 494. This replaces both 120mm and 80mm drive arms (4¾" and 3 1/8" respectively) on Huret hubs (not those from Stewart-Warner) where the original drive arms are either broken off or hopelessly pretzeled. INSTALLATION: You will need to use a tiny screwdriver or pick tool to pry off the snap ring of the existing drive hub arms, then wiggle the old arm ring straight up and off the hub. (The easiest way to get the old snap ring off is to wedge your prying tool under it through one of the three slots in the center hub, whichever one is closest to the gap in the ring. Lift one end of the ring upward to free it, then work your way around.) Clean out any residual gunk with a paper towel before continuing. The new arm set presses on the same way. Be sure that it is seated flat (it will be a tight fit), then snap on the retainer ring. The easiest way to attach the snap ring is to first press it into place opposite the gap where the ends meet, then work your thumbs around each side simultaneously, pressing the ring down as you go, and eventually the ends should snap into place once you have most of the ring seated in the groove of the center hub. CAUTION: Please be sure that your speedometer head is turning freely before installing new drive hub arms. Huret drive hub arms usually bend or break because the speedometer head has seized up from years of storage. Replacing the drive arms will not free up the speedo head; it will simply bend the new arms as soon as you start pedaling. To check that your speedometer head is able to turn properly, insert a small flat-blade screwdriver in the back of the speedo head (where the cable goes in), and be sure that the square-holed inner barrel of the speedometer head can turn freely before reconnecting the drive cable and drive hub.
