Description: This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing. This sample features a Hiram B. Scutt patent, dated September 17, 1877. This wire is called "Scutt's Four Point Linked Staples on Two Lines" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 602-B). This wire features two round line wires twisted together. Barbs are four pointed made from two round wire staples. Staples are linked together, with each staple enclosing one line wire. Wire sample shows light pitting. Sample is 18" in length and has two barbs. Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered. There are no broken, or missing barbing points.
