Description: Original CDV photo of Captain Stephen R. Babbidge (1831-1896), signed in ink, "S.R. Babbidge or what is left of him". Photographed in Cadiz, Spain at Fotografia Blanco. Dimensions are 4" x 2.5". Babbige was a longtime sea captain and resident of Rockland, Maine; in the 1880s he became captain of the US steamer General Wright, working on improvement in Yaquina Bay, Oregon. He died in Oregon in 1896.
