Description: Organic Purple Dead-Nettle Lamium Purpuream Archangel Medicinal Herb FRESH SEEDSFresh Spring Seeds, just recently harvested! Seeds were foraged from wild growing plants, in all natural, Many of us are rediscovering the medicinal and nutritional benefits of this plentifully abundant wild plant. A member of the mint family (which are prolific spreaders), it can be found blooming in Early Spring all across the United States, particularly in the North and Southeastern regions. The plant has an upright growth habit, and has slightly fuzzy purple tinged little leaves and tiny purple blooms. A few weeks after blooming, the blooms will begin to fade and seeds will set. The plant will begin to die back as the summer heat starts to crank up. New plants will emerge in the late fall to winter when the weather turns cool again and remain green all throughout the winter if your winters are too harsh. They will begin to grow quickly and begin blooming in late winter to spring. Like many of the plants our ancestors valued and regularly consumed..... this incredible plant has QUITE a few medicinal purposes, which include a whole long SLEW of "anti's"; anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiseptic, anti fungal, antibacterial. Its great for boosting the immune system, successful in treating E-Coli and soothing skin irritations and wounds. Leaves can be eaten raw, added sparingly to your salad greens (the fuzzy leaves make them a bit weird, kind of like the radish greens), cooked in stir fries and soups, etc.... In addition to being FABULOUS for humans, they are also a favorite of the pollinators, and an important early spring food for insects and bees that are just emerging and beginning to forage. The plants will generally get from a few inches to just over a foot in height, with an upright growth habit, which will also spread into kind of a bushy clump. They are hardy perennial plants but will also reseed themselves like an annual quite well however instead of just dropping in place and reseeding in the same spot or area as the mother plant, many or even MOST of their seeds spread around by ants, who take them to their underground lair, eat the "elaiosomes" from off of the seeds, and leaving the rest of the viable seeds intact to germinate wherever the ants left them. Germination time: 1-3 weeks Planting Depth: 1/4" Sunlight: require full darkness for germination. Plant at least 1/4" deep to give full darkness to seeds Plant seeds or thin seedlings from 8 to 10" apart. Type of Soil: These plants do well in poor soils, which is why they are commonly found along roadsides and in fields so they don't require much fuss. In fact, trying to "feed" wild plants may even be detrimental to their medicinal profile. So don't worry much about the soil other than to make sure it's got some organic matter added at least once or twice a year, and that's it's not TOO sandy as it is similar to plantain and dandelion in that it likes a compacted soil. If you have clay soil great, if not then amend with compost. FREE SHIPPING NO TRACKING NUMBER.
