Description: Mid 20th Century Senufo Seated Maternity Figure African Fertility Wood Sculpture Gorgeous Mid 20th Century Senufo Seated Maternity Figure African Fertility Wood Sculpture, Mali or Ivory Coast This is a beautifully carved Mid-20th Century Senufoi Maternity (pregnant female) figure with elaborate hairstyle, and fully initiated (scarification marks throughout) seated on a traditional stool. She seems to have some sort of remnant of libation liquid and pigment throughout. This was traditionally used for tribal and ceremonial use. Circa 1950. Dimensions: 17 1/2 x 3 3/4 x 4 inches Weight: 1 lb 10 oz Condition: Good condition. Gorgeous aged patina, libation and possible pigment or earth remnant patina. Minor scuffs and cracks and losses commensurate with age and use. Both feet at front have been broken and have losses. One foot is slightly shorter and creates uneveness to stand upright. I have fixed this temporarily with a small folded piece of paper underneath the foot.
