Description: Here for sale is a Set Of 12 Mid-19th Century Bovine Bone Handle knives by W&S Butcher of Sheffield, England. They are about 8” long (some are closer to 8-1/8” long). William and Samuel Butcher started marking their wares with this mark in 1830 and they stayed in business for several more decades. They are known more for fabricating tools, so these knives would have been made using high-quality steel. The blades are silver close-plated steel (a process that involves fusing silver foil onto the knives) and the bone handles are largely intact, though they do have some chips, as can be seen in the photos. One blade has a chip on the end, but the rest of the blades are in pretty good shape.
