Description: Sevres Hand Painted Floral Cobalt & Gold Soft Paste Bottle Cooler Circa 1788 Nice antique 18th century authentic Sevres soft paste porcelain bottle cooler. Decorated with cobalt bands with gold gilt scrollwork and a band of floral sprigs in pink , blue, and orange. Gold gilding along the edge and gold highlights to the handles. Marked on the bottom with the hand painted double L mark in blue, KK date code mark for 1788, and a mx painter's mark. The painter's mark is listed in the book Sevres Porcelaine Vincennes and Sevres 1740-1800 as an "undetermined painter of flowers about 1785." This cache pot was made for one of two services sold to Francesco Maria Ignacio Piccaluga on 8 August 1788 or Marquis de Néelle in July 1788. Has some wear to the gilding, a small flake to the top edge, and an in manufacture firing separation to the rim and to one of the handles. Otherwise good condition. Measures approximately 6 3/4 inches wide from handle to handle x 5 1/4 inches tall. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece. GV KX
