About the Sheaffer Targa: First launched by the Sheaffer Pen Company of Fort Madison, Iowa in 1976 this line was inspired by Targa Floria. This event was an open road endurance auto race held in Palermo Sicily for many years. The event ceased in 1977, one year after the Targa Writing Instruments were launched worldwide. During the next 23 years it would be adorned with over 80 different finishes, before finally "running its last race" in 1999. By then its reputation had been built, and today it is still fondly remembered and cherished by pen enthusiasts worldwide. The size, balance, durability and finishes made the Targa very popular, and the fantastic Solid 14K Gold Inlaid Nib was a major calling card that set the Fountain Pen apart.
