Description: Shimadzu Type M-Reconditioned The Shimadzu Type M is a good basic hardness tester. The tester has a 40X and 10X objective and either a Knoop or Vickers Indenter. The tester is capable of testing the following loads: 25, 50, 100, 200, 300, 500, and 1000 grams. TEST PROCEDURE1. Once the operator has selected the weight load they would like to test on, they can select the dwell time by pressing the desired time on the front panel of the tester. 2. The operator focuses on the surface of the part and the location they would like to test. Then the operator moves the turret to the indenter and presses the LOAD button. 3. The LOAD light on the front of the tester will turn red to indicate that the test is in progress. 4. After the indenter dwells in the work, the indenter is then automatically removed and the LOAD light goes out. 5. The operator then moves the turret to the 40X measuring objective to begin measuring the impression. 6. The operator will place the measuring lines in the eyepiece on either side of the impression and then read the barrel on the eyepiece. This reading will give the operator the measured length of the impression in microns. 7. At this point the operator can convert the measured length to Knoop or Vickers numbers by using a conversion book (included). This tester comes with the following: Knoop or Vickers Indenter, 40X objective, 10X objective, set of weights (25, 50, 100, 200, 300, 500, and 1000 grams), jewelers vise, (4) leveling legs, operator manual, Indirect Verification for up to 3 test scales (load + Indenter type).
