One hundred photographs selected from the 6000 negatives in the Aultman Collection, representing El Paso and Juarez between 1870 and 1940, the Mexican Revolution between 1910 and 1919, and various aspects of the Southwest around El Paso. Otis A. Altman 1874-1943 travelled with the Revolutionary armies, often in specially designed boxcars, complete with darkrooms. He is said to have been Pancho Villa's favorite photographer in the early months of the war, a statement possibly confirmed by photograph 95 in this collection, which shows Villa seated at a small round table as he finished a bowl of ice cream in the Elite Confectionary, El Paso, 1911. Aultman settled down to work as a commercial photographer in El Paso, dying in the studio which was also his home, on March 5, 1943. Signed by the author on the half-title page. Published in an edition of 3,000 copies with the plates destroyed after printing. Printing supervised by Lyman E. Dutton and Carl Hertzog. Longtime book designer and printer Carl Hertzog's monogram appears on the colophon. $5.55 domestic U.S. shipping. Payment must be received within 24 hours of sale.
