Description: A stunning estate quality Victorian period Solid Silver Vinaigrette. Hallmarked on the inside of lid and also on the inside of the bottom of the box. Birmingham 1852 Maker - Hilliard & Thomason This is an exceptional quality vinaigrette with a substantial weight of 17 grams. The top has stunning scrolling chased decoration , with beautiful flowing lines around the edges. The top has a cartouche in the centre which is engraved with AEJ The base has also been beautifully engraved with a similar design as the lid. The silver work is all perfect with no dents or scratches. The vinaigrette is hinged at the back with a very good solid hinge , which works perfect. Inside the top has its original gold gilding which is perfect order and not faded. The gold gilding inside the base has worn in a few places , as can be seen in the photos. The inner mesh is beautifully chase engraved with a scrolling floral design which is stunning. Vinaigrette has no damage or marks and all hinges work very well. Measures - 4 cm length x 2.1 cm wide x 0.9 cm height. Weight - 17 grams of 925 solid silver.
