Price is for the complete set of 6, all different, dessert plates. The faience manufacturer of Saint-Clement was established in 1758 by Jacques Chambrette, owner of a faience manufacture at Luneville, France. In the 18th and 19th centuries, Saint-Clement manufactured prestigious pieces, as well as household goods, luxury items and decorative items in earthenware. After 1920 production included dishes and household articles of earthenware (often with antique ornaments) and decorative objects (animals) & crackled faience (1925-1930). The production of “barbotine,” which is the French term for using ceramic slip (mixture of clay and water) to mould or build up raised designs to decorate pottery, also was another production line. Between 1864-1876, the famous French glassmaker, Emile Galle and his father, produced their wares in the workshop at Saint-Clement. Today, Saint-Clément is the only earthenware factory still active in France and employs 130 people. The classic majolica pieces associated with the Saint-Clément brand continue to be produced today, along with many new designs that have evolved in more recent years.
