Description: Scott Flanagan is known for his sampler style quilts, so he designed a special for this collection of batiks called Quilting is My Voice. Before his SD started, He sung in choirs from middle school through college and beyond and even went to college on a voice scholarship. While singing is no longer an option for him, listening to a choir or congregation sing and combine their voices into one and hear the voices and music soar in the room is one of his greatest joys in life, and he appreciates it more now than when he was able to sing. The quilt pattern is written as a 12 month block of the month; however, we are selling this project as a kit. Most of the units made in this quilt are half square triangles, quarter square triangles and flying geese units. FABRIC: This collection is very special to the designer Scott Flanagan. He battles Spasmodic Dysphonia (SD) and quilting was the light in his life when things got hard. Quilting is his voice and it can also be something that resonates with so many others. He is so excited to share his beautiful work with you and raise awareness for SD. The palette for this batik collection includes stone colors in various shades of neutral creams, beige and grays with a splash of rust and a little bit of wine and green. 100% cotton fabric. Machine wash cold water, delicate dry cycle, use cool iron. Made in Indonesia. Fabrics made in Indonesia. The kit contains a purchased copy of the Soaring Voices Sampler pattern/instructions designed by Scott A. Flanagan of 4th & Main Designs along with enough batik fabric to complete the quilt top as shown in picture 1. This kit contains all fabrics required for top and edge binding. BACKING AND BATTING WILL NEED TO BE PURCHASED SEPARATELY. The overall finished size of this quilt is about 96" x 96". Pictures 2 and 3 show the pattern and fabrics included in this kit. Pictures 4 thru 10 show larger images of some of the fabrics. There are no substituted fabrics! Skill Level: Advanced Beginner/Intermediate The pattern recommends 8-3/4 yards of backing fabric assuming a standard 40" width along with a 104" x 104" piece of batting. Additional fabric could be needed if using a directional print or fabric design matching. BACKING FABRIC AND BATTING ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS KIT. About 18 yards of fabric is included with the kit along with the pattern. NOTE: FABRICS IN THIS KIT ARE PACKAGED IN THE SAME ORDER AS LISTED ON THE PATTERN SO THAT YOU CAN EASILY ORGANIZE OR MARK THEM USING YOUR PREFERRED METHOD!
