Description: Vintage Joaquin Sorolla Framed Lithograph of "Desnudo de Mujer 1902" Polysmalt from the Sorolla Museum in Madeid. This lithograph has a bowed curve to the litho, as well as a gloss varnish that makes it appear more like the original painting. Has original polysmalt gold tag on red velvet backing. Joaquin Sorolla's remarkable artistic expertise was visible at a young age. He began showcasing his paintings at the Exposición Nacional de Bellas Artes in Madrid during his late teens and was admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts in Valencia in 1881. By 1884, at just under 21, he displayed his first major history painting, which was acquired by the Spanish government. From 1890 onward, Sorolla's career soared with a relentless stream of Spanish and international exhibitions, portrait commissions, numerous accolades, and nearly continuous travel. His work was displayed in cities such as Munich, Paris, Chicago, Vienna, Venice, and Buenos Aires. In 1895, his painting Return from Fishing (now at the Musée d'Orsay, Paris) was featured at the Paris Salon and purchased by the French state, solidifying his reputation as a prominent international artist. By 1900, he was arguably the most renowned living Spanish artist. Unfortunately, Sorolla did not live to see his grand mural cycle installed in New York, as he suffered a stroke while painting in his garden in June 1920. He passed away three years later and was honored as a national hero. His body was transported by train to Valencia, where he was met by a large crowd and buried with full state honors in his hometown Condition is excellent, has normal wear appropriate for age.
