Description: This February 8, 1779 $50 note was elaborately engraved by Thomas Coram of Charleston. On the front, the latin motto “PROVIDENTIA NOS TRIS PRESIDEAT” (Let foresight guide us) can be seen on the bottom left. This series was know for featuring Classical designs. The reverse of this note depicts a grand design of Atlas holding a large boulder over his head. Nice mid-grade example with light paper, relatively bold printing, and attractive eye appeal for the grade. Sought after issue.
