Southern Bell Advertising Items From 1970's-1980's But NEW Salesman Samples

Description: I own an advertising specialty company - now in our 46th year I am happy to report - and worked in the industry for many years prior to establishing my own firm. For many years my best client was what was formerly known as "The Bell System". Of course after Judge Green's ruling, divestiture occurred and it was later broken up into what was generally called the "Baby Bells" - and later morphed into many variations.So over the years we worked very closely with Western Electric, AT&T, Southern Bell, BellSouth, BellSouth International, Lucent Technologies, OFS, Avaya, etc. I collected many over-run samples, one-or-a-kind spec samples, and the likes. I am now selling much of that collection via eBay. I have been searching through old samples and over-runs of orders I sold to various Bell System entities. And I do have many such samples. Here are over-run salesman samples of various items we sold to Southern Bell in the 1970's and 1980's. Details:* Over the years we sold Southern Bell a great many bags of all descriptions. Here is an over-run sample of one we did for them in the late 1970's when they were using the theme "Phone Sellin' Professionals". The size is 12" x 13" with a 2" gusset. the material is a heavy cotton canvas. Features include reinforced top and twin carry handles. Made in the U.S.A. * Likewise, they purchased many ring binders, and here is an example of a very nice one. This 3-ring binder is in tan suede material, size 11.5" x 10" x 1.5" spine. Features include the Bell system Seal in brown in the lower right front corner, two inside pockets and top & bottom ring boosters. It was made in the U.S.A. by Hazel, a well known supplier located in Missouri. * Another popular gift was a luggage tag, and this is my favorite version. The material is genuine suede russet leather. The size is 2.75" x 5" and featured include stitched edges, privacy window, and leather attachment. Also made in the U.S.A. * Almost everything we sold Southern Bell incorporated their famous "Bell System Blue" color, which if I correctly remember was PMS #300. In addition to the above listed two items in brown, here are two iron on patches also done in brown. The size is 2.5" in diameter, and made in the U.S.A. as well! * Sheaffer "Reminder Clip" pen. This pen was used in the early 1980's to promote an internal program called "Up Front '80". The purpose of the patented "Reminder Clip" was to make the user retract the refill before putting in pocket. Still cello wrapped as it was from the factory, Sheaffer Pen Company. Made in U.S.A. too. * For many years we had the contract to supply S.B. with woodcase pencils. Here is an over-run example of one for office use. We were fortunate to also have the contract to supply pencils for Yellow Pages as well. In other listings I have some of those for sale. U.S.A. made/ * Here are two small magnets featuring tow instruments of the day. U.S.A. made. * We sold S.B. many balloons, and here are three over-run samples of the ones in Bell System Blue with the Bell logo in white. These are 12" balloons and made in the U.S.A. An interesting side note: At the time, balloons were actually machine inflated and then individually hand rolled over an inked plate to custom imprint. It was quiet an operation to see! It is interesting to notice that all of these various items were made in the U.S.A. Not so today... As indicated, these were my over-run sample I purchased and never used. All are in outstanding condition. Quite a feat for a samples that are approximately 40+ years old or so. They have been stored in sealed containers in one of our climate controlled sample rooms for all of these years. A very rare find for sure. A great opportunity for anyone who was affiliated with Southern Bell or perhaps collects old telephone memorabilia.
