Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Souvenir medallion struck for the 1889 Exposition Universelle at Paris, France. The Expo celebrated the Centennial of French Independence and the establishment of the First Republic following the French Revolution. The year chosen corresponded with that of the storming of the Bastille in 1789, the traditional start of the Revolution. This Exposition is the event that the Eiffel Tower was built for. 32.5mm struck in Bronze, Choice Uncirculated with considerable Red planchet color remaining, no spots and very attractive. Unlike larger French medals, privy mark and notation of composition on the Obverse die below the bust. PCGS will certify this piece, and I assume NGC will as well, should you desire to submit for grading. 0324-98 Please Note: We require payment within four days of purchase, unless you contact us for other arrangements in advance of purchase.
