This is a GUARANTEED ORIGINAL Soviet hat made in 1970 for a military officer, not a replica or a more recent issue! The crown is in wave green gabardine with red piping and black band designating the Armored branch of the Soviet Military. The hat includes the appropriate Officer’s Hat Badge and gold chin cord. The sweat diamond of the Odessa Headgear Factory shows a 1970 date of manufacture. Stamped Size 56 on the diamond is about US size 7 / Medium. The underside of the sweat band shows a quality control ink stamp. The hat is in GREAT condition, apparently worn just a few times. It shows only storage age, no soiling or wear, and has almost none of the moth damage typically found on Soviet-era items made of wool. There is just a single quarter-inch long area of the piping on the left side which was slightly nipped by moth, but it's not too noticeable. The top of the crown has some dust and very faint stains that may clean off and are visible only at a close inscpection under a very bright light. The interior is immaculately clean.
