Description: Soviet Navy Award Badge in Commemoration of the 10th Anniversary of the 41st Nuclear Submarine Division of the Northern Fleet, 1984 issue.This is GUARANTEED 100% ORIGINAL badge from the mid-1980s – not a more recent reissue or replica!The badge is of superb quality, in brass with high quality “hot-baked” enamels; measures 28.5mm tall x 40.2 mm wide. The stylized numeral “10” with the globe and silhouette of a nuclear submarine is a separate superimposed part. The lettering on the first digit “1” spells “years”. As is typically the case with Soviet-era unit badges, the actual number or name of the unit is not mentioned anywhere on the badge. The badge however is definitely known as the 41st Nuclear Submarine Division’s commemorative award.The badge is in GOOD OVERALL CONDITION. The obverse is perfect, shows only minimal tarnish to the gold wreath that is not detractive and some microscopic contact marks to enamel, no wear visible to the naked eye. The attachment pin is broken, but its catch is still intact and should be enough to affix the badge to a pad in the collection display.The 41st Submarine Division was formed in 1973, initially as part of the 3rd Submarine Flotilla and a year later, as an independent unit of the Soviet Northern Fleet. It was equipped with nuclear subs of the Project 667B Murena (Delta-I by the NATO classification), strategic missile “submarine cruisers” carrying 12 ballistic missiles each.
