Space Age MCM 1950 Motorola Radio Model 79-X-M21 Now Bluetooth Looks COOL

Description: This is a 1950 Motorola radio model 79-X-M21 made by Galvin MFG in Chicago. This is a great example of the new space age look in radios back in the 50's. Love the large speaker area with the chrome dial half circle. Sorry to say this one was a dirty mess needing some TLC. The dark green painted bakelite was badly chipped but no cracks or breaks. It was missing the speaker grille. Removed all of the non working guts to make way for the new electronics. Sanded, primed and painted the entire case in green mist enamel with several coats of gloss lacquer to protect the finish. Looks real nice now. The original knobs are not perfect but will be reused. Cleaned & polished the huge chrome dial removing pits and stains. Again not perfect but original. The lines & overall shape make this a mid century modern design example. I like the contrast of the greens & chrome. Used a piece of period correct black/green small check speaker cloth. Please review the pics. On the inside, I installed a new Bluetooth digital stereo hi-fi audio amplifier with 50 watts per channel in addition to a big 5" Pioneer multi range speaker. The sound quality is amazing. Yes this classic is now a real boom box. Installed the on/off/volume switch with the knob on the right. The other is fixed. DO NOT TURN. Reused the original back plate. All of the electronics are hard wired and secured to the inner supports insure a long life. This is one of a kind Bluetooth stereo that is deco cool. A real conversation piece that makes a grand statement. There is a new electrical plug also. The 1950 Motorola MCM radio converted to Bluetooth measures 13" x 8" x 8" .Will look good, sound great and fit anywhere. Let know if you have any questions. Please look at my other offerings.
