Description: Span-Am War Era US Army Model 1878 Canteen with Cork & Chain - US Marked - Original - Very Nice Condition Up for sale is a Spanish American War Era US Army Pattern 1878 Canteen. The canteen has the original cork & chain assembly. It has the canvas covering. It is US marked on the front of the canteen. It has a soldier's ID and Unit written on the cover above the US marking. Both eyelets are still present to attach the leather shoulder strap. The strap is NOT included, but is available in our other listings. No rips or tears on the canvas cover. Minor soiling from prior usage and age. This is the pattern canteen that was used through the later years of the Indian Wars, the Spanish-American War until it was replaced with the M1910 Canteen just prior to the start of WWI.
