Description: Offered are three J-58 Engine relics recovered from the desert crash site of Blackbird, No. 61-7970. While refueling, Sr-71, tail number 61-7970, collided with a KC-135Q tanker. Flight controls for the Black Bird were destroyed in the collision forcint the two man crew of the Black Bird to eject. When the SR-71 smashed into the desert floor ten miles East of El Paso, the engines were still set at crusing speed. The tortured condition bears mute testimony to the destructive forces unleashed when No. 970 smashed into the West Texas desert on June 17, 1970. A Letter of Provenance detailing the hunt for 970's crash site and the 2013 recovery of artifacts will be provided to the winning bidder. The SR-71 artifacts display well together.
