It is in the south of the county, about three miles north of Slough and a mile east of Farnham Common. Thomas Gray's "Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard" is believed to have been written in the churchyard of the Church of England parish church of Saint Giles in Stoke Poges. A nice 1932 encyclopedic historical print Many great images of history were created or photographed for use in encyclopedias, which were very popular from 1870s to 1940s. Many of these images do not appear anywhere else.
