Description: Staffordshire pottery bocage group, ‘Jolly Traveller’, c. 1820. Modelled as a man leading his donkey through the countryside, accompanied by his dog. The donkey is laden with twin paniers containing fruit, and stands before an elaborate bocage.Set upon an oval shaped grassy mound, and mounted with a plaque inscribed ‘Jolly Traveller’.Decorated in underglaze enamels, beneath a pearlware glaze.Length – 20.2 cm, 8”.Height – 18 cm, 7 1/8”.Depth – 11 cm, 4 3/8”.Condition – Dog reattached to base.
