Description: Hi! You're looking at an excellent condition book which is EXTREMELY RARE, hard to find and OUT OF PRINT and a classic pulp fiction novel in the Detective Anthony Slade book series written by British author LEONARD GRIBBLE--the book is a HARDCOVER with the ORIGINAL DUSTJACKET published by Roy Books (most likely in 1957 or 1958--the date is not stated) and is NOT a remainder copy and NOT price-clipped, with the original $2.75 price on the upper corner of the front inner flap. This book is in excellent condition and is a former British lending library copy with typical markings but no checkout pouch, a narrow protective band on the upper and lower edges of the dustjacket and a mylar plastic sleeve on the jacket, which is attached to the boards; the book itself has a tiny discolored spot on the lower center back edge of the opening page edge at the last few pages of the book, POSSIBLY a removed page after the publication page and the dedication page (this is very possibly only a feature of the binding) a small torn out spot on the lower center of the blank last page, slight browning on the upper page edge, light wear on the upper and lower edges of the cloth cover and no other significant imperfections; the dustjacket has some light wrinkling on the surfaces, a small vintage lending library sticker on the lower center of the front surface and just very light shelfwear but NO other significant flaws! The book is titled Stand-In for Murder and it was written by LEONARD GRIBBLE; it was published by Roy Publishers in 1957 or 1958 (date of publication not stated).Every murder has its alibi, and it is the top cop's job to break down that alibi--if he can. Superintendent Anthony Slade, when he was investigating a murder, thought that the alibis of the people concerned were just a little too slick. He set about breaking down the evidence, and found that it led him to some strange places and people. As he uncovered new facts, the suspense began to wear on the nerves of the murderer. This was the moment for which Slade had been working. The case had almost come to its fast-moving climax when he was faced with a man-to-man challenge which put his life into jeopardy.Anthony Slade is one of the best-known figures in detective fiction, and this new case finds "The Man from Scotland Yard" at its breathtaking best.A fantastic find, and a beautiful copy of this book! Thanks for looking, and good luck if you're bidding! Also be sure to check out all of my other great books currently listed on ebay auctions--I can combine shipping for multiple purchases!
