Description: You're buying the Stanley #5-1/2 Jack plane shown in the photos.This plane is in good condition, with a good bit of its original japaning present.The wood on this plane is in very good condition, the front knob has a tiny chip in the very bottom which can be seen in the photograph.The blade and Chip breaker both measure just under 2-1/4" in width.The blade measures just over 7"in length, and carries the early Sweetheart logo.The blade has shallow pitting and some denting Midway up on the front side, however the front side cutting surface is relatively free of any noteworthy defects other than some very mild pitting.This plane is likely a type 11 although the blade would match a type 12.The lever cap like most of this age was rusted and therefore carefully resurfaced to its present condition.The plane was very carefully and thoroughly cleaned, the wood has two coats of clear shellac, and the blade is sharp.Look the photographs over carefully I believe they will confirm the very good condition this plane is in.
