The Order of the Vendian Crown was conceived as a common family order for two dynastic-related grand duchies: Mecklenburg-Schwerin and Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Motto of the order: for Schwerin "PER ASPERA AD ASTRA" (Through hardships to the stars) for Strelitz "AVITO VIRET HONORE" (Flourishes with tribal honor).
