Description: About the item Stone Crabs is an evocative fine art print that captures the essence of nature's raw beauty. Featuring disarticulated crab claws and body parts arranged in a striking composition, the piece juxtaposes the natural elegance of marine life with the starkness of isolation. The use of rich, deep reds against a pristine white background accentuates the contrast between life and stillness, making this artwork both visually compelling and thought-provoking. Printed on Hahnemuhle fine art paper using archival inks, this print ensures longevity and maintains the vibrancy of its colors. Offered as part of a limited edition of 10, each piece comes with a certificate of authenticity, guaranteeing its value and originality. This print is a must-have for collectors who appreciate the intersection of natural history and contemporary art. About the body of work: Raw Ingredients Raw Ingredients began with Alex Geana's obsession with new materials, color exploration, and a desire for order in photography. After many years in fashion photography, Alex applied this sensibility to both exotic and everyday ingredients. Prepared foods held no allure; the perfection of a manicured soufflé was meant only for eating. Instead, he scoured New York City for compelling and perfect, as well as imperfect, vegetables, meats, and other items, finding inspiration everywhere from the Union Square Green Market to the hidden shops of Chinatown. Analyzing shapes, Alex built sculptures and photographed them. Much of the work was created on a light table with various color bases. There’s minimal Photoshop used in each piece, employing only the traditional tools of photography— dodging, burning, and slight contrast adjustments. The work relies on lighting, construction, and meticulous attention to detail. This body of work seeks to transform simple raw ingredients into graphic, distilled art. The results are sometimes perfect, often messy, but always infinitely intriguing. About the artist Alex Geana is a distinguished photographer whose prolific career spans over 500 fashion shows and a diverse portfolio of commercial clients, including Donna Karan, HBO, and Cointreau. His work is widely published across the web, bridging both commercial and fine art spheres. Alex is the author of the best-selling book "Fire Island: Photographs". His fine art photography is held in private collections and featured in two museums. In June 2015, Alex's debut solo fine art show, was held at the Leslie-Lohman Project Space in SoHo. He has since participated in numerous group exhibitions and presented his Fire Island images in a one-night-only event in 2017, which was highlighted by Paper Magazine and attended by 300 guests. Alex’s work is also showcased in the book "Daphne Guinness" by Yale University Press and exhibited by the Leslie-Lohman Museum, The Museum at FIT, Chair and the Maiden Gallery, and the School of Visual Arts. A former member of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) and The Society of Publication Designers (SPD), Alex has generously donated fine art prints to silent auctions, raising funds for charities such as GLAAD, Bottomless Closet, The Jewish Guild for the Blind, Live Out Loud, and All Saints Church. Born in Romania and raised in California, Alex moved to New York to pursue a career in hospitality management. This experience honed his team motivation skills and instilled a keen eye for detail, as he navigated various strata of New York society. Now settled in downtown New York, Alex continues to create new works and projects, driven by a passion for both art and technology.
