Repeatedly abducted by aliens from the distant future, Jack's internal organs were slowly removed and replaced by alien technologies that would allow him the extraordinary power of Urban Symbiosis, the ability to control, communicate, and harness the power of cities. He can teleport himself with a city, stick to any surface, leap great distances within a city, and transform cities into large, living beings he can control or integrate himself into. As a downside, he must continually reside within an urban area -- or a space large enough to constitute and seem like an urban area -- in order to survive. To him, all cities are sentient, unique entities with a spirit, voice and unique power set of their own. In the absence of THE AUTHORITY's leader, Jenny Sparks, Hawksmoor has served as Team Leader. Other characters with similar powers of Urban Symbiosis have recently been explored in the DC Comics limited series City Boy (2023). With the live-action DCU film The Authority still on the horizon and the team itself an obscure reference to a great many current and future DC fans, Hawksmoor's First Appearance in Stormwatch #39 (Vol 1) remains off-the-radar for many.
