Description: Storrs, CT - Connecticut Agricultural College / now University - Halcomb Hall: Storrs is a village and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Mansfield in eastern Tolland County, Connecticut, United States. The village is part of the Capitol Planning Region. The population was 15,979 at the 2020 census. The University of Connecticut (UConn) is a public land-grant research university system with its main campus in Storrs, Connecticut, United States. It was founded in 1881 as the Storrs Agricultural School, named after two benefactors. In 1893, the school became a public land grant college. It became Connecticut Agricultural College (1899–1933) and then Connecticut State College (1933–1939). It assumed current name in 1939. Over the following decade, social work, nursing, and graduate programs were established. During the 1960s, UConn Health was established for new medical and dental schools. UConn is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education. East Campus Residence Halls comprise two building clusters, with three facilities on the south end – Holcomb, Whitney, and Sprague Halls – and two more on the north end of campus – Grange and Hicks Halls. Holcomb hall has a study lounge with a big living room, a fireplace and a grand piano. It has a lot of real wood and old-world style. This White Border Era (1915-30) postcard is in good condition.
