The spine is stamped in gilt. Octavo. NO TOP STAIN. 408pps. The book is clean, tight, square, and bright, the pages are immaculate; absolutely no reading wear and no previous ownership markings. DOES NOT HAVE the first-issue point of 'C22' at the bottom of page 408, nor the 0761 on the bottom of the front dj flap. The dust jacket, has moderate general wear at the folds and the extremities including shallow chipping and touches of rubbing. Second state dust jacket with Heinlein’s photo to the rear. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST EDITION FIRST PRINTING. BUT IT IS AN EARLY PRINTING AS THE UNCLIPPED PRICE OF $6.50 IS INTACT (ORIGINAL FIRST price WAS 4.50). There is no printing edition info on the copyright page. NOTE that the second printing has the info printed on the copyright page. This seems like a last printing BEFORE the second printing as there is no info on the copyright page, same as the first printing. THE DJ HAS A FULL SIZE PHOTO OF HEINLEIN ON THE REVERSE back of the dj WITH HIS BIO ON THE INNER BACK FLAP without a photo. The true first has the same bio on the inner back flap with a small different photo of Heinlein, and the ad for Starship Troopers on the back. This printing used different paper as the book is thinner than the first printing with both having 408 pages. The binding is a lighter green than the first printing but otherwise identical. THE FINAL PHOTO SHOWS A TRUE FIRST WITH GREEN STAIN AND THIS PRINTING OFFERED HERE WITH NO STAIN. A MAJOR DIFFERENCE IS THE BOOKS BY ROBERT A. HEINLEIN LISTING. THIS LISTING IS AFTER THE CONTENTS AND BEFORE THE INNER TITLE SHEET, NOT AT THE FRONT OF THE BOOK. OTHERWISE THE BOOK LIST IS IDENTICAL TO THE TRUE FIRST. A very nice, collector's-quality copy of this high spot of Science Fiction literature. This classic was the winner of the 1962 Hugo Award. $1400
