Description: 3 Crosley Broadcast Equipment 6L6 Tube Power Amplifiers. Serial # of one 278 4. One is a special Crosley amp with a telephone dial! Total 4 Crosleys Amps. Dimensions 19" x 5 1/8" x 8". Net Weight Each 28.5 lbs/13.0kg. One of the world's rarest tube amplifiers ever made. Manufactured and distributed by Crosley for specific Radio Stations in the US from as early as 1940. Not for sale to the public these were manufactured strictly for Radio Broadcast Stations and Commercial purposes. Superbly made with cast iron transformers that are supremely heavy. Each transformer core at least 1/4" in thickness. Certainly overbuilt to withstand the test of time for reliability and functionality. Look at the pictures of the transformers. Each one is extremely super heavy duty iron. No expenses spared making these. Previous owner recalled these amps were in used in a Cincinnati Radio Station in 1944! Sometimes good things are made to last if stored properly. These were not stored in a control environment hence there is lots of dust inside. The exposed internal wiring harness have begun to show signs of age. And some of the old old "bone" resistors have shown its age and deteriorated. You can see some exposed old "bone" resistors that are broken and exposed. But overall condition of these amps are very good cosmetically. Like all old tube amplifiers from that era a lot of work is needed to repair and upgrade the innards. Tubes compliment in each amp are 2 x 80, 2 x 6L6 and 2 x 6SC7.
