Description: For sale is a wonderful English painting by the listed UK artist Henry Shirley(1836-1870) Henry Shirley died young and his paintings are very hard to come by. We are happy to offer for sale this wonderful genre scene of children trapping a small bird in the landscape. We have researched several of Henry Shirley's paintings and this scene without a doubt ranks among one of his best works that we have come across. It is signed in the lower left-hand corner as well as signed and inscribed on the back. We make out the word Liverpool. Over all condition is very good. There is one minor paint loss area in the bottom right corner and we have taken a close up detailed picture of this area for your consideration. The frame is decent and very appropriate for the painting but may not be original. It is a bronzed paint picture frame with some areas of age-appropriate gesso a loss/chips. Measurements: Frame - 20 1/2" x 15" Canvas - 16" x 10 1/2"
