The series’ impact on comic culture is underscored by its adaptation into a feature film in the James Gunn and Peter Safran rebooted DC Universe. Gunn described the film as a unique take on the superhero genre, with Milly Alcock portraying Supergirl. The narrative follows Supergirl aiding a young girl named Ruthye in a quest for vengeance, reminiscent of ‘True Grit’ set in space.
