Description: Preface This workbook is designed to be a supplement to the fifth edition of David Moore's A Basic Practice of Statistics. It is a required book for STAT 210 Basic Practice of Statistics taught at Virginia Commonwealth University, an introductory level course that is taken by students from many majors. The course is taught in three 50-minute lectures per week. Each chapter of the workbook consists of five components. The text involves definitions, important concepts, formulas and their interpretations. Class examples are incorporated in each section and provide the students an opportunity to apply the concept just discussed. At the end of each chapter is a section entitled "additional reading and examples" that the students should read outside of class. For some chapters this includes instructions for using a T1-83/84 calculator. This is followed by a suggested list of practice problems that the students should work outside of class. Solutions can be found in the back of the supplement. Finally, activities are included throughout the workbook, providing the students with hands-on experience in applying the concepts learned. The author hopes that the student finds this workbook to be helpful and welcomes any comments and suggestions.
