Handmade by Blacksmith - Total Length 17", Free Shipping Intro: This listing is for an Ash Knife / Slicer for a Surdiac Gotha, Woodman Stove. This is handmade. A customer wanted it for his stove. There is currently no making these. A little about this stove and the knife: There are 3 openings (left, center, right) where the ash knife is inserted. The opening is roughly 1 inch wide & 1/4 inch high. The coal rests atop two grates and underneath the grates are two ash pans to collect the ashes. The ash knife cuts under the coals and above the grates, in a back/forth motion to shake down the coals. You use all three openings to shake down the stove. At each opening, you work the knife within the slot (left, right, center) to work as much of the grate of ash buildup as possible. The coal sits in a hopper and is gravity-fed, as ash & burnt coal are shaken from the grates into the ash pans it makes room for new coal in the hopper to fall onto the burning coals. (The stove, in the pictures, was built by a Belgium company called Surdiac with most of the stoves they produced using anthracite coal either nut or rice coal. Gotha 513 , Gotha 713, Baronet 520 & 720 and MCK are some of the models. Surdiac has changed hands a couple of times since the 1990's and I don't think they are being built anymore). It will ship USPS "2-3 Day" with delivery confirmation to keep the cost of shipping down. Details: Knife/Slicer: Made out of Hot Rolled Steel, 1/4" thick x 1/2" wide and 11" long. Handle: This is my Cool Wrap Handle with hook (6" long). It gives you the ability to get a good grip and not allow the transfer of the heat to get to your hand. Total length: 17" long It is coated with a high temp and a hammered black paint giving it the ability to withstand those hot fires.
