Description: This is the stunning Swid Powell Pair of Metropolitan Silverplated Candlesticks. The contemporary tableware company, Swid Powell was established in 1982 and commissioned home accessory designs from world renown architects. The classic Metropolitan candlesticks were designed by architect, Robert A.M. Stern. The candlesticks are 12 inches tall and 2 inches wide. They are marked Swid Powell S (for Stern) Made in Italy Silverplate. Swid Powell candlesticks were designed so that the components can be unscrewed for cleaning. I’ve never taken them apart. This pair was purchased from Bullock’s Wilshire in Los Angeles in 1985 and have been stored since then. I cleaned them with a silver polishing cloth to photograph them. I found a small spot on one of the column sides which must have happened in manufacturing and I tried to show it with a black rectangle, other than that, the candlesticks are in the same condition as when they were purchased. There is a teaspoon in one photo to show the impressive scale of these candlesticks, it is not included. $1100 plus $35 shipping.
