Devon.....1897. Watercolor on board. Actual size: 10" tall x 14" wide. Total dimensions with frame: 16 1/2" tall x 21" wide. Hand written (using pencil) on brown backing paper (upper right): From James to Robert.....on 35th birthday, May 31, 1990.....Houston, Tx. I opened the backing paper for discovery purposes. An ink stamp on the back of the board reads: SOLD BY.....DONALD KENDALL, ARTIST'S COLORMAN,.....12, HACKINS HEV, LIVERPOOL.....ALL MATERIALS KEPT IN STOCK. Note: Donald Kendall, an accomplished artist on his own, died in 1927. Also, hand written in pencil: 1262.....1 in Jola Ben.....jola mound.....19 x 15 8 1. Note: both of these men were members of England's oldest continuously active art club, Liver Sketching Club. Founded in 1872. Condition: great protected condition. Tape holding the piece in place, extremely old and brittle. I reinforced with new tape (pictured). Gold gilt wooden frame has missing and chipped paint surface (pictured). Single matte, has particulates from tape. Will leave up to the buyer. Special work of art with provenance! Buyer pays shipping cost of $100.00 US. Insurance included (where allowed).
